chintzy decorations nonexistent soundproofing

the breakfast buffet included pancakes my kids devoured daily, a small consolation i suppose.

Our room, a "girls suite", wasn't exactly princess-worthy. It felt more like a hastily assembled theme park attraction, complete with chintzy decorations and a faint odor of disappointment. the soundproofing was nonexistent. I could hear the neighbors' domestic disputes as clearly as my own existential dread.
